Motion is a new collaborative album by established sound artists, Toby Marks and Andrew Heath.

Four immersive soundscapes were created and compiled from field recordings made during trips to the North, South, East and West of Britain over the course of 2018. Each trip took as it’s theme a particular form of transport, the sounds of which, in addition to environmental recordings from those areas, were processed and transformed, blending piano, guitars and electronics to produce a deeply meditative, endlessly unfolding collection.

Sometimes evoking images of machinery, sometimes of nature, the pieces flow and twist, at all times maintaining a humanity and sense of personal experience at their core.

The evening will be supported by cellist Simon McCorry - Cellist/Composer and Phonsonic.

Simon McCorry uses the cello through looping devices and computer processing to build asynchronous layers of chord tones, interpolated pitches, polyrhythms and melodic fragments to create a sense of harmonic movement. Described as ‘a kind of hypnotic chance music’.

Phonsonic (Alexander Caminada) combines live instruments, synthesisers and found sounds to create melodic, percussive, evolving pieces.

Accompanying the music are live video manipulations by Patrick Dunn, blending real-world imagery and computer generated textures.
