Let’s play with possibility! Enter a collective space where a group of architects, academics, artists, writers and policymakers grow parsley – watch out for it when you step over the threshold – build spaces, public and intimate, craft stories and re-imagine digital futures!
Co-founded more than a year ago by architect Tom Sykes, artist-researcher Annja Neumann and community impresario Kath Child Lower Street Atelier is a place that works on you. An experiential workspace where space, physical and imaginary, is made.
Featuring mixed-reality installations, sketches, the books we write and read, the collective’s urban garden and a set of wonderfully anarchic performances, LSA will become a portal to re-think what ‘work’ can be, forget 9-5, get inspired, get creating!
Our programme this year will offer an experiential look into the making of public places, the curation of space and the creation of film and books. The space will host an unpacking of Extended Studio’s community focussed architecture and design process with some of their upcoming projects, Annja Neumann’s dramaturgy practice inspired by the world-making of Salon de Seuil, Quickthorn Publishing’s catalogue of practical and ethical books – including Intelligent Hands and Finding Quiet Strength – as well as work by other resident creative practitioners.
